Mesa: "Movimiento Vasco de Gama"

El Movimiento Vasco da Gama (MVdG) tuvo origen en el evento Junior Doctor Programme organizado antes del Congreso Europeo WONCA 2004 (Ámsterdam), durante el cual, residentes y jóvenes médicos de familia de 13 países europeos intercambiaron experiencias y conocimientos relacionados con la medicina familiar y comunitaria, concluyéndose como resumen que existía la necesidad de crear un espacio de cooperación en WONCA Europa constituido exclusivamente por los más jóvenes representantes de la medicina familiar y comunitaria.
La misión del MVdG es expandir el conocimiento de la especialidad con una perspectiva europea y cambiar ideas a través de nuevas experiencias, con el objetivo de desarrollar y mejorar la MFyC en Europa. Para esto el MVdG creó una estructura descentralizada con    diversos grupos de trabajo: Reclutamiento, Intercambios, Imagen/Comunicación, Educación e Investigación. Así el trabajo de cooperación internacional tiene una continuación con residentes y nuevos médicos de familia, como prolongación del trabajo de WONCA Europa. El futuro depende de nosotros.

Vasco da Gama movement (VdGM) is the WONCA Europe working group for young and future General Practitioners. The movement is the continuation of the work that was started during the first preconference meeting for junior doctors during the WONCA Europe conference in Amsterdam in 2004. Our mission is to extend our knowledge of GP/FM in a European perspective and to exchange ideas and experiences with the purpose to develop and improve GP/FM in Europe and at home
There are five Theme Groups. The Theme Groups are working on Research, Education and Training, Recruitment, Exchange, Organisational Structure and Image.
During this lecture in Madrid 2008, the lecturers will introduce to all the Spanish family doctors the existence of this movement, showing the importance and necessity of European groups of young doctors from different points of view: from the WONCA Europe president, from the VdGM President, from the Educational Spanish view and also from the Spanish delegate in the VdGM´s Europe Council.
Spain is in Europe as Family Doctors are in the Good Medicine; there is a lot to learn abroad, because: “the truth is out there”.
